There are many factors which work behind the time required to preheat the oven. Leaving unused oven racks in the oven is a factor behind adding preheat time. It is said that one unused rack can add up to 30 seconds to preheat time. If you open the door during preheating then it will increase the preheat time. Hidden baking element providing buffered heat can affect the preheat time of the oven. Voltage and room temperature are the other two factors that can affect the preheat time of an oven.

How you are preparing the oven for preheating is also an important factor because how long it will take to preheat the oven mostly depends on it. If you want to preheat the oven fast then you should keep the oven empty before preheating it.

Remove the baking trays and keep them in a safe place because as said earlier, these trays increase the preheat duration. After that, you need to adjust the racks and to do so, you can follow the instructions of the recipe you are following to cook.

We can give you a tip that might help you and that is to put the racks higher to have a crispy top and to place the racks in the middle part to keep the food soft. On the other hand for foods that need crispy bottom like pizza, you need to put the rack close to the bottom of the oven.
