For the best value in a Dutch oven, get the Lodge 6-Quart Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven. It cooks foods just as well as other, much pricier Dutch ovens we’ve tested, and it’s one of the easiest ones to use and to move around the kitchen.
Keeping this in consideration, are Dutch ovens worth it?
A good Dutch oven is a kitchen essential, heavy and thick enough to conduct and retain heat and deep enough to handle large cuts of meat and quarts of cooking liquid. While a Dutch oven is ideal for braises, stews, and chilis, you can ask it to do much more.
In respect to this, can the Lodge Dutch oven go in the oven?

But even more importantly, it’s a kitchen multitasker. Use it to broil, braise, bake, or roast in the oven up to 500° F, and sauté, simmer, or fry on any stovetop, as well as to marinate and refrigerate food.
Can you leave food in cast iron overnight?
Leaving it in cast iron overnight (unless it is enameled) is not a good idea. The iron will oxidize and well, blech. I would not leave food in any pan overnight, especially cast iron. By not removing the food, you invite corrosion to any cast iron product.
Weighing in at 14 pounds, this Dutch oven has a 7-inch cooking surface diameter. Like the Le Creuset, the Lodge has wide loop handles.

To accommodate most recipes for a round boule loaf, look for a Dutch with a capacity between 5 and 7 quarts. Anything smaller and the loaf won’t have enough headspace to rise, and in larger pots, dough can spread out to create a flat versus lofty loaf. Heavy, thick-walled Dutch ovens are best for bread-baking.
While enamel is useful in that it eliminates the pitted surface of cast iron where food can more readily get trapped and stick, it is not inherently nonstick and does not build up a seasoning. So each time you cook, you’ll need a sufficient amount of fat to avoid stuck-on messes.
